11 Ways To Find A Profitable Niche Idea Using The Niche Reversal Method

If you’re searching for a profitable niche idea chances are you want to start an online business, website, or side hustle because you’re dissatisfied with your current job and lifestyle.

And chances are the money you’re making right now isn’t enough to pay the bills AND life a comfortable life.

And if you don’t find a profitable niche soon you’re going to stay stuck, unhappy, and living an unsatisfied life.

One filled with restrictions instead of opportunities and freedom.

And trust me, I’ve been there and it isn’t fun.

Finding a profitable niche for an online business is like discovering the golden ticket…

The problem is almost all the other content, videos, and social posts on the topic of finding a niche just regurgitate the same generic information such as…

…“pick a passion”.

…“solve a problem”.

…or “study your competition”.

None of which really explains how you’ll find a profitable niche that works for you due to multiple reasons:

  • You might not have any real passions or even if you do they might not be profitable or you simply don’t know how to turn it into a business.
  • If you knew which problems to solve or how to profit from them, you wouldn’t be searching for “profitable niche ideas” as you’d already have found your niche.
  • And if you don’t have a niche or business right now then you don’t have any competition to study.

So forget all of that and do this instead…

Follow my straightforward and simple proven framework for finding profitable niches through reverse engineering what’s already working for other websites, people, and online businesses.

It’s called the ‘Niche Reversal Method’.

I’ve used it to discover literally, without exaggeration, thousands of profitable niches over the years (now obviously I haven’t launched websites or businesses around all these niches as that would be impossible).

It means you don’t have to use guesswork or pick random “passion” or “problem” niches that might not even be profitable.

And you might be thinking “but doesn’t that mean someone else has already done that business and it’s too competitive?”

Honestly, the fact someone has already proven that this niche is profitable is a FANTASTIC thing.

Why?

Because they’ve already validated the idea, niche, and business model and shown there’s demand for it.

You should be more worried you can’t find any other examples of people competing in this niche because that would be unusual…

…profitable businesses and niches always have competition!

The good news?

Most of the information I help you uncover in the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ comes from free resources so you don’t need to spend money on expensive tools.

To find out my exact ‘Niche Reversal Method’ then simply read this post from start to finish and I guarantee you’ll be able to find dozens of profitable niches ideas that interest you too.

A Note On Choosing Passion or Problem Niches

As mentioned earlier I’m not a huge fan of the generic advice on finding a niche around picking one of your passions or solving one of your problems.

I’m not saying this can NEVER work because obviously it can. But here’s the issue…

Choosing A Passion, Interest, or Hobby Niche

You might have a passion, interest, or hobby that can be turned into a business, product or service someone will pay for.

But not every passion of yours is going to work as a profitable business.

Or you might not have many real passions or many interests anyway, so then what?

Solve a problem instead ‘they’ will tell you…

Choosing A Problem Solving Niche

You might have a problem in your life that you and many others need solved that can be turned into a business.

But what if you don’t?

Or what if you don’t want to spend all your day focusing on your problems?

So then what?

That’s why I don’t agree that choosing one of your passions or solving one of your problems is always the solution to finding a profitable niche.

And it’s not, in my experience, the best method to find PROVEN profitable niches.

Instead I would recommend you try the following proven ‘Niche Reversal Method’ first by going through some, or all, of the 11 steps below…

1) Browsing Website Brokerages & Marketplaces To Find A Profitable Niche

Did you know there are dozens of online business brokers and marketplaces where people are selling proven, verified, profitable businesses?

And that for the most part anyone can access these.

Plus you can see most of the essential business details including business model, traffic numbers, earnings and sometimes even the URL of the business?

Yep, it’s true.

And why is that important?

Because, you can literally see which niches and business models work.

The businesses and websites which are already making money right now.

Which means you have hard evidence that with a little bit of work you too could profit from this niche.

So you don’t have to pick a niche at random based on your passions, interests or problems and “hope” that it turns out to be profitable after months and months of work.

You instead implement this part of the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ and find a PROVEN profitable business model and niche.

Here are some of the main marketplaces and brokers to find proven, verified, profitable niche ideas and businesses:

Flippa
Empire Flippers
Motion Invest
FEInternational
NicheInvestor (formerly BlogsForSale)
Acquire
Duuce
Investors Club
Quiet Light
Tiny Acquisitions

Let me show you how to use the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ with these marketplaces and brokers to find profitable niches…

1a) How To Use These Marketplaces And Brokers To Find Profitable Niches

Simply sign up for a free account (to the best of my knowledge all of them currently allow anyone to sign up for free), join their email list, and browse their listings for sale.

This way you’re finding online businesses and websites where someone else has carried out all the hard work to prove the niche is profitable.

Most of these brokers only allow websites which they have personally verified to be profitable to be listed and the financial information is typically available for you to view.

The exception to that rule is Flippa.com which is not a broker but an open marketplace that anyone can sell their site on whether vetted or not (think eBay but for websites).

So, some listings will be unverified and you will be relying on data provided by the seller at face value. However…

You can filter only to show websites where traffic has been verified by Flippa and most legitimate sellers will provide earnings screenshots and / or videos to prove the numbers claimed.

This provides a fantastic way to reverse engineer proven and profitable websites and businesses giving you confidence that the niche in question is profitable if you choose it and are willing to put some work in.

Seeing as all listings on Flippa.com can be browsed without even signing up for an account and all the URLs are public let me show you how to use it find profitable niches.

How To Use Flippa To Find Profitable Niche Ideas

Showing how you find a profitable niche idea using Flippa.com
  • Go to Flippa then hover over the “browse” button.
  • Decide what type of business you’d like to see from Websites, Apps, or Domains.
  • Then choose a sub-category ranging from eCommerce to Content or SAAS depending on what type of business you’re interested in.
  • For this example I’ll look at “Website > Content” as I like to build content sites like blogs and niche sites.
  • On the left hand side there are various filters and I would suggest you tick the “Yes” box under the “Revenue Generating” headline so that you only see profitable, revenue, generating websites.
  • And in the “Status” area choose both “Open” and “Recently Sold” so you’ll see websites which have already sold and ones currently under auction.
  • You can also enter numbers into the “monthly traffic” or “monthly income” fields if you want to see only businesses with certain traffic and income requirements.
  • Then simple start scrolling through the listings taking note of which niche / topic the website or business is around.
  • If the site is making monthly profit then you have found a proven profitable niche.

Some Profitable Niche Websites I Discovered On Flippa

At the time of writing here are some profitable niche content websites I discovered on Flippa listed below.

Please note I have not carried out any due diligence on these, nor recommending you buy them, I am simply reporting the numbers included on the listing so you can get an idea of the wide range of niches that can be profitable…

Websites listings on Flippa.com

So, what does this prove?

Now you can reasonably conclude that these are profitable niches for online businesses.

Why? Because this is hard proof others are already making money from these topics and business models.

It’s particularly promising if you see a niche or topic that you already have an interest or knowledge in because it’ll give you an advantage.

Even if you don’t have any knowledge on these niches many of these sites featured are not exactly specialist topics that require high levels of expertise and probably are not run by experts themselves either.

So there’s no reason why you too can’t start a website or online business on this topic and succeed with this advanced knowledge that it’s a profitable niche.

Personally this strategy below is one of my favourite parts of the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ to find profitable niches…

2) Using Affiliate Networks To Find A Profitable Niche

Many of the major affiliate networks provide data such as conversion rate, commission rate, and EPC (Earnings Per Click) on their top performing affiliate offers.

Why is this useful for you? Because…

If you can see which affiliate offers and products are making money for affiliates, then it’s a good indication this niche is profitable.

Especially if there’s multiple different vendors selling similar products or services and they all have strong data, this is further proof it’s a profitable niche.

This is the second part of the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ and I’ll show you how to use these networks to find lucrative online niches below.

Some of the top affiliate networks include…

Amazon
ShareASale.com
CJ.com
Clickbank.com
AWIN
Impact Radius
Rakuten LinkShare

For most of these affiliate networks you need a website to sign up for an account and view the offers.

So if you don’t already have a website then sign up for a free Blogger or WordPress website in order to access them.

Using Amazon to find profitable niches is quick and easy, here’s how…

2a) Finding Profitable Niches Using Amazon

There’s multiple ways to find profitable niches using Amazon:

If products are appearing in these sections and they have a high number of reviews (i.e. hundreds or thousands)…

…then that’s a sign that people are buying these products in droves and therefore they are most likely profitable product niches too.

Amazon.com Best Sellers page

Currently, at the time of writing, I’m seeing lots of products related to the following on these lists…

  • Beds, Sheets, Mattresses
  • Drinking Glasses and Water Bottles
  • Shelves and Storage Space

This indicates these are likely all profitable products and niches due to the high sales volume.

There are also 3rd party Amazon tools that can speed up this process for you…

2b) Using 3rd Party Amazon Tools To Find Profitable Products Or Niches

There are 3rd party Amazon tools that are built entirely for this reason: to find profitable and trending Amazon products.

Most are built with Amazon FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) and / or Amazon Dropshippers in mind but they also act as a perfectly good way to uncover profitable products and niches in general.

Tools include:

Here’s how to use one of the best affiliate networks in terms of range of profitable offers available to find profitable niches…

2c) Using ShareASale.com To Find A Profitable Niche

ShareASale is one of my favourite affiliate networks for the huge volume of affiliate programs, products, and offers available across multiple different industries and niches.

It ranges from big brands like Reebok to Bodybuilding.com to Freshbooks Accounting Software to Grammarly.

There are several ways to find profitable affiliate products, offers and niches using ShareASale…

ShareASale Trending Merchants

Once logged into ShareASale you can navigate to their “Merchant” page.

Then scroll down and you’ll see a “Trending Merchants” section.

ShareASale.com trending merchants screenshot

It includes useful information about:

  • The vendors name.
  • The category / industry / niche they are in.
  • How much their commission rate is.
  • Their 7 day EPC (Earnings Per Click – or more specifically EPC stands for earnings per 100 clicks across all Affiliates in a Merchant’s program) – the higher number the better.
  • And their “Power Rank” which is ShareASales method of ranking their best affiliate offers from 1-1000 with #1 being the best currently on the network, so the lower the number the better here.

Any affiliate offer, service, product or business appearing on this page is sign of a profitable niche as it means they are clearly making a lot of sales currently.

However, that’s not the only way to find profitable niches using ShareASale…

Using ShareASale PowerRank To Find Profitable Niches

Power Rank” is defined by ShareASale as…

“This search category shows affiliates our top performing brands on the network. With the change of seasons and merchant additions to the network, this list does periodically change, so check it out every once in a while to see which brands are doing well!”

So this list is showing their top brands and offers currently on the network.

Again you get data on the brand / offer, what they sell, their commission pay out, EPCs (Earnings Per Click), and their current Power Rank position.

Any brand / offer / product on the top levels of this list is a great sign of a profitable niche, especially if you’re seeing multiple similar brands, products or offers appearing high on this list.

At the time of writing I can see multiple brands / offers on the PowerRank in the following niches:

These are all positive signs of profitable niches.

Alternatively you can use the search bar and filter options to search for specific keyword, products, or niches if you already have specific ideas you want to validate.

Here’s another affiliate network that makes it easy to find their most profitable affiliate offers and therefore profitable niches too…

2d) Using CJ.com To Find A Profitable Niche

CJ.com manages the affiliate program for major brands ranging from Wayfair to Wallgreens to Zappos to Verizon and TripAdvisor.

Once signed up and logged in navigate to the “Advertisers” tab and then sort by any of the following filters…

  • 7 Day EPC
  • 3 Month EPC
  • Network Earnings: High to Low

This will show you high earning affiliate programs and when you find a high paying affiliate program you’ve typically found a profitable niche.

You can also check Clickbank for profitable niches…

2e) How To Find A Profitable Niche On Clickbank.com

Clickbank is the worlds largest digital product marketplace and one of the largest and oldest affiliate networks on the internet.

There’s 2 ways to find profitable niches on Clickbank….

Searching Clickbanks affiliate marketplace

First create a free account at Clickbank and sign in.

Then click here to access Clickbanks affiliate marketplace.

If you have a specific topic or niche in mind you can enter it into the search bar and find all products related to it.

Otherwise, if you just want to find the most profitable niches on the marketplace click into the search bar, leave the search box empty, and just hit enter.

Now all the best ranked products on their network will appear.

Use the filters to sort either by…

  • “Rank: High to Low”.
  • “Gravity: High to Low”

This will show either their highest ranked and promoted products.

Screenshot showing Clickbanks best affiliate offers

Note: Gravity score is Clickbanks way of ranking the most recommended products on their platform, a higher gravity score typically signalling that a product is promoted by a lot of affiliates.

Any product appearing near the top of this search result is a high chance of being in a profitable niche due to high demand and sales.

Some of the most popular niches I found at time of searching included:

Clickbank Gravity Score and Conversion Average screenshot

As you can see there’s a lot of health related products at the top of the list and also offers related to wealth, both these markets are evergreen.

Clickbank also publish blog posts every month telling you their top converting offers…

Clickbank Best Selling Offers

Clickbank also publish regular blog posts on their top offers of the month and their best products of all time.

Screenshot from Clickbank showing their best products blog post

Any products showing up in these posts are proven profitable niches as verified by Clickbank who have all the sales data.

2f) How To Use AWIN To Find A Profitable Niche

AWIN is another major affiliate network with a wide range of offers.

Once signed up and logged in you can navigate to “All Programs”.

Then sort the column in the table that says “EPC” by “EPC: high to low”.

Anything with a high EPC (Earnings Per Click) is a strong sign of a profitable niche.

Here’s some of the niches I found at the time of writing that have high EPC…

These are the best affiliate networks to easily find niches that the data proves are profitable.

You can also find niches by using the ‘Niche Reversal Method’ to reverse engineer sites approved by high paying Display Ad Networks…

3) Finding Profitable Niches Sites Using High Paying Ad Networks

There are Display Ad Network like Mediavine and AdThrive that have high traffic requirements and quality guidelines for sites to be approved to join their network.

At time of writing, a site must have 50,000 sessions per month and meet Mediavines quality guidelines to be approved.

Likewise a site must have 75,000 sessions per month and meet quality guidelines to be approved by AdThrive.

So it stands to reason that if a site has high levels of traffic, these networks have a quality guidelines, and these Ad Networks are known to have high pay outs that most sites you find using these networks will be profitable niches.

So how do you find sites using these Ad Networks with the ‘Niche Reversal Method‘…

Here’s a free but manual way to find sites on Mediavine and AdThrive sites…

Finding Profitable Niches Using Mediavine

Every site that uses Mediavine has to add a disclaimer into their privacy policy that contains the following phrase “Mediavine Programmatic Advertising”.

So simply go to Google and type “Mediavine Programmatic Advertising” with the quotation marks and every site that appears in the results will be using Mediavine Ads on their site.

The first page of results bring up some interesting niche sites related to…

  • Tortoise CareUberSuggest estimates this site has over 107,000 visitors per month, who knew Tortoises were such popular pets?
  • Video Game Guides – again UberSuggest estimates this site has over 76,000 visitors per month.
  • Hand Luggage Only Travel – this time UberSuggest estimates this site has over 3.3 MILLION visitors per month.

Finding Profitable Niches Using AdThrive

Likewise every site on AdThrive has to have the following text on the page “CAFEMEDIA Publisher” so just go to Google and search “CAFEMEDIA Publisher” with the quotation marks and every site that pops up will be a site using AdThrive.

You can assume that most sites using AdThrive are profitable niches particularly for content sites using Display Ad due to the high traffic requirements each of these network has to be accepted into the network.

Some of the first sites that pop up are in quite interesting niches…

  • Hunting & Outdoor KnifesUberSuggest estimates this site has over 126,000 visitors per month.
  • Jobs in FootballUberSuggest estimates this site has over 126,000 visitors per month.
  • Boxing NewsUberSuggest estimates this site has over 106,000 visitors per month.

Lists Of Over 3,000 Sites Using AdThrive and Mediavine

You can also see an analysis of over 2,000 AdThrive websites here from Mushfiq at TheWebsiteFlip.

And over 1,000 Mediavine websites here.

Don’t have the patience to manually search?

There’s some useful paid tools to find these sites…

3a) Using BuiltWith.com To Find Profitable Niche Sites Using Display Ads

You can get some free, but limited, information using BuiltWith.com.

Here’s a small list of sites using Mediavine: https://trends.builtwith.com/websitelist/Mediavine

And a small list of sites using AdThrive: https://trends.builtwith.com/websitelist/AdThrive

However to get a more comprehensive list you’ll first have to sign up for a free account and then to get the complete list you’ll have to sign up for a premium account which even at their basic plan is not cheap.

3b) Three Less Expensive Paid Tools To Find Profitable Niche Sites Using AdThrive or Mediavine

If you don’t mind spending a little money to make these sites easier to find there are a some paid tools that I am a customer of and would recommend.

These tools allow you to search, sort, and filter by websites which use different Ad Networks (or also affiliate programs) to monetize and give you an estimate of traffic and income as well as revealing the niche and URL.

The tools are as follows:

Here’s my purchase proof email for Niche Site Metrics…

And for NicheFinder…

And for SiteStatsDatabase…

I have found some VERY interesting and profitable niches using these tools that I would never have thought of otherwise, and so can you.

You can filter by either AdThrive or Mediavine sites (and in some case many of the smaller or alternative Ad Networks) and check which niche the site is in.

Because you know these sites are on a quality Ad Network, which has high minimum traffic requirements, and lucrative pay outs plus you can see their estimated traffic and earnings you can find tons of proven profitable niches.

Again, why start a website in a niche you HOPE might eventually be profitable after months of work when you can pick one from day one you KNOW has the ability to be profitable if you put the work in?

4) Using Niche Finder & Affiliate Program Tools

If you have money to spare, want to speed things up, and would like easy to filter lists of profitable niches and / or affiliate programs here are some good paid tools you can use as part of the ‘Niche Reversal Method‘…

Niche Site Metrics

Niche Site Metrics is a tool by Ian Nuttal that allows you to sort and filter through a list of niche sites by traffic numbers, monetization methods (such as specific Display Ad or Affiliate Networks), or estimated earnings potential.

As I mentioned earlier I paid for access to this tool and have found tons of interesting niche website using it including…

  • howmanypedia.com – a website that just covers search phrases that start with the words “how many…” (e.g. “How many islands does Croatia have?” and “How many calories in an apple?” and is estimated to receive over 900,000 searches p/m, at the time of writing! Literally anyone could create this site.

  • worksheetgenius.com – which gives away free, and basic, maths and English worksheets and gets more than an estimated 1 million visitors p/m, at the time of writing!

  • scrabblewordfinder.org – to find the high scoring words for Scrabble with an estimated, at the time of writing, 2.8 million visitors per month!

  • pickerwheel.com – a site that spins a wheel with “yes” or “no” on it to help you make a random decision on any idea you have, it’s estimated, at the time of writing, to get over 800,000 visitors p/m!

NicheFinder

NicheFinder is a tool by Mike Futia and allows you to filter by niche, traffic numbers, monetization method or earning potential.

As mention earlier I bought a licence for this tool and here’s some interesting profitable niche sites I found…

  • coffeeatthree.com – it covers any topic relating to coffee including questions around Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, it’s estimated to get over 960,000 visitors p/m, at the time of writing!

  • practicalselfreliance.com – it’s a site about off grind homesteading, with an estimated 900,000+ visitors p/m , at the time of writing .

  • thegoalchaser.com – a simple website that shared positive quotes and positive words, receiving an estimated, at the time of writing, 900,000+ visitors p/m.

  • jigsawexplorer.com – a website dedicated to online jigsaws with an estimated, at the time of writing, 970,000 visitors per month!

SiteStatsDatabase

SiteStatsDatabase is a tool by Ian who owns many online assets including niche site newsletters, keyword research services, and his own niche sites.

As you can see from the image above of the dashboard, once logged in, you can search for niche sites using all manner of filters including monthly traffic, total keywords ranking, domain authority, total number of backlinks, date the site was started, niche, monetization method and more.

The thing I like about SiteStatsDB is unlike some of the similar tools that only let you search for sites that are using Display Ad Networks this tool allows you to search by Display Ad Networks AND Amazon Affiliate Sites (and probably more affiliate programs to follow I imagine).

Here’s some interesting profitable niche sites I found using SiteStatsDB in seconds…

  • basketball-reference.com – a quite frankly (and no disrespect meant to them as they are clearly doing everything right based on traffic levels) basic and not the prettiest looking site about “Basketball Stats and History Statistics, scores, and history for the NBA, ABA, WNBA, and top European competition” with at the time of writing an estimated 14,000,000+ visitors p/m and are monetizing with an $8-$16 pm subscription offer to get deeper insights into basketball stats!

  • steamcommunity.com – A “Community and official content for all games and software on Steam” that seems to monetize through Ads and Subscriptions to play games and receives an estimated, at the time of writing, 5,999,000+ visitors p/m and personally I don’t even know what “Steam” is!

  • allaboutbirds.org – it described it’s self as “Online Guide To Birds And Birdwatching” and monetizes via course to bird waters, donations, Display Ads (though they seem minimal), and they have product reviews but strangely don’t seem to be monetizing these with Affiliate Links, and they receive a estimated, but whopping, 4,630,000 visitors p/m.

Affilisting

Affilisting is a database of, at time of writing, over 11,000 affiliate programs including details on commission pay out, cookie duration, affiliate network / platform, and more.

Using this tool you can find lucrative affiliate niches which is a healthy indicator of a profitable niche.

Affiliate Corner

Affiliate Corner has, at the time of writing, over 3,000 affiliate programs in 100+ niches and allows you to filter by earning potential, commission rate, average order and more.

You can even spy on other affiliates in your niche and discover which promotion strategies work best in each niche.

You can sort by highest paying niches and much more.

Affiliate Bag

AffiliateBag has over 18,000 affiliate programs from 256 different niches in their database.

You can filter by product type (digital, physical, service etc) and commission rate and much more.

Curated Niches

Curated Niches in an Airtable Database (basically an online spreadsheet) with 50+ and growing niches, at the time of writing, that are specifically low SEO competition niches and perfect for building niche content websites around.

You get information on top competitors, easy keyword ideas, traffic estimations, income potential, affiliate programs and more.

It includes a few niches also featured on NicheNirvana, such as…

Low DR High Traffic Sites

This is a essentially a productized service that finds high traffic sites but that don’t have “high SEO authority” (i.e. not many backlinks and / or are relatively new) and sells packs containing these sites keywords.

The idea being that if one low SEO authority site with not many backlinks can achieve high rankings in Google it should, in theory, be easy for other websites to do the same if they target the same keywords in the niche.

So essentially, these are easy, and profitable, niches.

There’s no dedicated website for this project but you can follow the Twitter account here and see what niches are available here.

6b) How To Find A Profitable Niche On Gumroad

Gumroad doesn’t make it easy to instantly find the best selling products on their platform but with a bit of digging around you can find high selling and top rated products.

  • Then you’ll need to choose a category that interests you as there isn’t any way I know of to filter top selling products in “all” categories.

Then use the table of contents like bar on the left hand side to filter by changing the “Sort To” one of the following options…

  • Most Reviewed
  • Highest Rated
  • Hot and New

This will bring up popular products with either a lot of reviews, products that are highly rated by users, or “hot” new products.

What are you looking for her to validate whether something is a profitable niche idea?

Both high star ratings (it’s out of 5) and a high number of reviews (i.e. hundreds or thousands).

Then you’ll need to manually look at each course / product and work out what exactly the niche is.

Some of the topics I keep seeing in the Business Section, at time of writing, are…

  • Notion Templates
  • Twitter Growth
  • Email Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing

If I switch over to some of the other category pages, the following topics seem popular…

  • Vector Packs
  • Hubspot Guides
  • Google Ads
  • VJ Loops

Any time you’re seeing lots of product on the same or similar topics, with high numbers of reviews and good star ratings, you can safely assume this is a high demand and profitable niche.

6c) How To Find A Profitable Niche On Udemy

Udemy doesn’t make it instantly easy to see the top performing courses on their site without filtering by category first but with a little bit of effort you can get the information you need.

Here’s how to find top performing courses:

  • Go to the home page, click the category button, and choose a category which interest you.
  • Then by default Udemy will show the “Most Popular” courses in that category.
  • Again, what you are looking for is products with high levels of sales (i.e. hundreds or thousands) and preferably high ratings too.
  • Then start looking for themes and similar / the same topics and niches.
  • You can filter by “Most Popular” and it’ll show you the courses with the most users.

When I look through the “Business” section, at time of writing, I see several popular courses on the topics of…

  • SQL
  • Data Science
  • Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Email Marketing

Any time you see multiple, high selling courses, on the same or similar topics that’s a sure fire sign you’ve found a profitable niche.

6d) How To Find A Profitable Niche On Skillshare

  • Scroll down the page and you’ll see “Featured Classes” and then below that “Popular Classes”.
  • Notice below each course image you’ll see the number of students enrolled in that course, the higher number the better obviously.

If you’re seeing courses with thousands to hundreds of thousands of students it suggests not only a popular course but a popular niche, particularly if you’re seeing multiple courses on the same or similar topic.

Popular course topics include, at the time of writing, include…

  • Art & Drawing
  • Interior Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Productivity and Organisation
  • Adobe Editing
  • Youtube & Video Editing
  • Social Media Marketing

So this suggests these are profitable niches especially if you’re interested in selling digital product and courses.

Some of the most popular topics, at the time of writing, include…

You can also use social media to find trending new products and niches…

10 ) Using Crowfunding Platforms To Find Profitable Product Niches

There are many crowdfunding platforms that allow product ideas to be funded by fans and pre-buyers of the product before it’s launched or even created.

Products that people are desperate to pay for before they are even created is a healthy sign of a high demand, and likely, a profitable niche.

Look for business ideas and products that have received at least 100% of their requested funding to get an idea of what’s hot and in demand.

Discovering popular eCommerce brands and products can be a great way to discover profitable niches.

Here’s how to find profitable eCommerce businesses and niches using the ‘Niche Reversal Method’.

11a) Manually Searching For eCommerce Stores Using Shopify

If you don’t want to use any tools and are happy to do this manually then here’s a simple search you can do on Google to find eCommerce stores on the Shopify platform…

Go to Google and type “powered by Shopify” and all the sites that pop up in the Google will be eCommerce stores.

If you find a specific store that you think is in an interesting niche and want to validate whether there are more stores selling similar items then change your search term in Google too…

“Powered by Shopify” + “niche idea / product type” (i.e “powered by Shopify” + “phone cases”.

If you find lots of search results it indicates this is a popular eCommerce niche.

11b) Searching Etsy To Find Profitable Niches

If you’re not familiar Etsy is the “global marketplace for unique and creative goods” and features a lot of handmade and vintage items.

You can either filter by specific categories if you have areas or interests you’d like to explore and then sort by “top customer reviews” to see the most popular items in that category.

Or if you just want to see the most popular products in the niche click into the search bar at the top of the page, leave it blank, and then click the search icon then sort by “Top customer reviews”.

You’ll be presented with the most reviewed products on the platform.

Start to look for similar items and themes and if you’re continually finding lots of products or categories with thousands of customer reviews you’ve likely discovered a profitable niche.

Some of the popular product / product types I found, at the time of writing, included…
